Jirang MLA, Sosthenes Sohtun today refuted claims that he had surreptitiously handed over land documents to the State government for the phase 1 of border talks with Assam.
According to Sohtun the allegation was levelled against him by Sordar of Patharkhmah during a public rally held against the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Meghalaya and Assam in Patharkhmah recently.
Sohtun told reporters at a press conference in Nongpoh that the allegation against him was false and baseless and that he has never secretly collected the land documents from the Hima Jirang, Nongspung and Nongkhlaw as claimed by sordar, Najim Kharmalki.
He stated that it was the task which was done by the government instituted regional committee to collect the land documents. He said the claim made was to tarnish his image and mislead the people of his constituency.
