Shillong, Aug 9: The Lumparing Mini Hospital-cum-Primary Health Centre is expected to be functional by December this year, officials informed South Shillong MLA Sanbor Shullai during a joint surprise inspection on Saturday.
Shullai told reporters that the inspection was aimed at reviewing the progress of ongoing construction work, which includes the hospital and roads in Lower and Upper Lumparing.
Health department officials and representatives from the Public Works Department (PWD) accompanied him during the inspection.
“Health officials have assured us that by December this year, the facility will be handed over to the local heads of Lumparing Pyllun and to the public,” Shullai stated.
The 10-bedded facility, sanctioned at a cost of Rs4,13,29,000, will serve residents from three dorbar shnongs.
The MLA also inspected five ongoing PWD motorable link road projects in the area, which are targeted for completion by February next year. The total sanctioned cost of these road projects stands at Rs 7,30,54,000.
Shullai noted that several households and localities have no motorable road access, forcing residents to walk miles to reach the nearest vehicle stand. “Once these link roads are completed, they will greatly ease the difficulties faced by the people,” he said.
He expressed gratitude to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma and PWD Minister Prestone Tynsong for initiating multiple development projects in the constituency. He also thanked former Health Minister James Sangma for approving the hospital project during his tenure.
