The Meghalaya Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) hosted its first-ever awareness programme here today aimed at promoting the UNNATI 2024 (Uttar Poorva Transformative Industrialisation Scheme) and the Meghalaya Industrial and Investment Promotion Policy (MIIPP) 2024.
The programme attracted participants from various industrial hubs, including the Byrnihat Industrial Area EPIP, units in Umiam and the Industrial Growth Centre in Garo Hills, as well as from the Bamboo Park in Ri Bhoi. Seasoned entrepreneurs from across the state were also present.
MIDC Chairman, James PK Sangma, shared his enthusiasm for the initiative, stating, “Today’s event not only demonstrates our commitment to industrial growth but also our dedication to establishing Meghalaya as a hub for innovative entrepreneurship, aligning with the Chief Minister’s ambitious economic goals.”
MIDC Managing Director, DD Nongmalieh, commented on the engagement: “The active participation and positive feedback from today’s sessions are indicative of the substantial potential that UNNATI and MIIP hold for transforming Meghalaya economy in the region.”
During the program, the Chief Manager of the National SC-ST Hub presented an overview of the schemes under the National SC-ST Hub, specifically tailored to support Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe entrepreneurs. Additionally, a detailed presentation on UNNATI was made outlining the scheme’s objectives and benefits specifically designed for the North East. The BFC team also provided a brief overview of the MIIPP 2024 policy of the Government of Meghalaya.
Head of the BFC and Advisor to MIDC, Kerlang Malngiang, highlighted the effectiveness of the session, stating, “Our experts provided crucial insights that will assist local businesses in understanding how to access and maximize the available financial incentives and developmental opportunities in the state. The state’s entrepreneurs have an amazing road ahead with these incentives from both the central and state governments.”
