The All Jaiñtia Mid Day Meal Workers Union has petitioned the Meghalaya government for an increase in the state’s share of their honorarium.
Referencing the government’s decision to increase the amounts paid to ad hoc teachers, the mid day meal workers hoped that the state government would continue its “acts of kindness” by enhancing the amount paid to mid day meal workers from Rs 100 to Rs 400, which would equate to Rs 500 per month as the state share.
The union has been pushing for an increase in honorarium from Rs 1,000 per month to Rs 5,000.
The cooks-cum-helpers of the PM POSHAN mid day meal scheme in Meghalaya have also not been paid since April, a press release said, adding that, with the Behdeiñkhlam festival approaching, any move in this regard would be highly welcome.
