Cooks under the PM Poshan in Meghalaya have finally received their new improved honorarium of Rs 2000.
The State government had decided to enhance the state’s share of honorarium which was Rs 100 per month to Rs 1100. The cooks cum helpers will now receive honorarium of Rs 2000 for 10 actual working months with effect from April, 2022, out of which Rs 900 is borne by the centre.
The Union of Cook cum Helpers, PM Poshan has credited this to the efforts put in by the Director of Education & School Literacy Swapnil Tembe.
To show their appreciation the union leaders that included president Banalis Syiem, vice presidents Jerry A Suting, Gena Nengnong, assistant general secretary Charles Shongwan and others met Tembe yesterday to thanked him for taking up their cause.
The union said the decision to enhance the honorarium has instil in them with the hope that in the future the state government will pay them regularly and
They also urged the state government to continue the regular payment starting in February next year and also to provide LPG cylinders to every school under PM Poshan where the workers usually have to cook with firewood.
