Speaker and United Democratic Party (UDP) president Metbah Lyngdoh today informed that he will meet senior party leader Bindo Lanong to seek clarification on a statement to the press the latter made yesterday.
Lanong had said that, in the interest of impartiality, Lyngdoh should have resigned from the UDP on being elected as Speaker of the Assembly. Once he is no longer Speaker, he should be allowed to rejoin the party, Lanong, a former Speaker himself, had stated.
Refusing to comment further Lyngdoh said, “I have to ask him whether it was his personal opinion. What he meant I don’t know.”
Lanong is a senior leader of the party and adviser.
