Shillong, Mar 3: Kickboxers under the Meghalaya State Kickboxing Association (MSKA) banner won two gold, two silver and 10 bronze medals at the Khelo India Asmita Kickboxing Women’s Zonal League in Siliguri recently.
Daniella I Wanda Mylliemngap and Medariphylla L Nongbri both won gold in their respective events, details of which were not provided by the MSKA, and Isapynbiang Lyngdoh and Baiahunlang Mylliemngap were the two silver medallists. Damansani Kharsahnoh, Ineshabahun Dkhar, Rikyntiew Nongrum, Iaribynta Kharsahnoh, Ariana N Marwein, Mandasumar Nongphud, Emiliana Papang, Lidia Wahlang, Phidari Rani and Emiliana Susngi were Meghalaya’s bronze medallists.
The East Zone tournament featuring 11 states ran from 26th February to 1st March. The Meghalaya contingent was led by coaches Nathaniel P Kurkalang and Ibadarishisha Mukhim.
Gold medallists received Rs 8,000 each, silver medallists Rs 6,000 and bronze medallists Rs 4,000 from the Sports Authority of India.
Medallists from the zonal rounds will progress to the national league to be held in Chennai on 26th-29th March, the MSKA, which felicitated the kickboxers on their return to Shillong today, said in a press release.
