Although still comfortable by national standards, Meghalayans are facing higher than normal temperatures once again during an ongoing dry spell.
Temperatures in Umiam touched 33.7 degrees Celsius Sunday, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), making it the third-highest temperature recorded at the station in the month of July since records began in 1976.
The Sohra station touched a high of 29.5 C today, making it the joint-fifth hottest day since 1913. Shillong’s high today was 28.6 C, which was less severely warm but still in the hottest 10 days the city has seen since 1951.
The IMD has predicted scattered showers in the state on Monday.
