Shillong, Jan 28: The Meghalaya contingent bagged a total of 41 medals (11 gold, 9 silver and 21 bronze) at a five-day championship in Maligaon, Assam, recently.
The All Meghalaya Karate-Do Association (AMKA) sent a team of 68 karatekas for the 43rd JKA India National Programme, which comprised the 43rd JKA India National Karate Championship and Camp 2026, 13th JKA India Veteran Tournament 2026 and 18th JKA India Kyu Level Tournament 2026.
The event ran from January 16 to 20 and the Meghalaya contingent was led by Banshanlang Kharumnuid, Donboklang Lyngdoh, Greater EM Kharpuri, Arjun Sewa and Sharai Nongneng Shanpru.
Additionally, Sensei Donboklang Lyngdoh successfully passed his 6th Dan black belt examination, conducted by Shihan T Taniyama, 7th Dan, a JKA headquarters instructor from Japan.
In a release today AMKA extended its heartfelt congratulations to all the medal winners, officials and Sensei Donboklang for their commendable achievements.
