Shillong, Feb 12: The Centre has extended the service of Director General of Police Idashisha Nongrang for six more months.
Nongrang, the first woman and tribal officer to head the Meghalaya Police took over the top post for a period of two years on May 19, 2024.
A notification issued on February 11 said the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet approved the extension proposal of the Union Ministry of Home Affairs to extend the service of Nongrang as a special case in public interest under Rule 16(1) of the AIS (DCRB) Rules, 1958.
Nongrang will continue serving as DGP until November 19.
