Cyclists from the State pocketed 10 medals in various disciplines from the 6th edition of the National Level MTB Tawang Cycling competition organised by the Arunachal Cycling Association and Cycling Federation of India, which concluded on November 19.
The event was held in the tough and rugged terrains of Arunachal Pradesh at high altitudes drawing cyclists from all over the country and from Nepal.
The medal winners in the Women Open XCO Mass Start were Phyrnai Kyndait (Gold) and Lawankordor Swer (Bronze). Lambormi Phawa bagged the Bronze medal in the Men Junior XCO Mass Start and a Silver Medal shared with Dalenmi Sana in the relay category.
In the Men Elite XCO Relay, Kevinjohn Khyllait and Alvindarison Wanniang together won Bronze. Three cyclists with consolation prizes are Maxius Wanniang, Middlestar N Marak and Dalenmi Sana.
Congratulating the cyclists, the Meghalaya Cycling Association said this was the first time that the association had seen great success even as a couple of training programmes was a few weeks before the event. “The results have been promising,” the association adds.
