Meghalaya has been heralded as the best state in the North East for the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), a nationwide plan to provide good all-weather road connectivity to unconnected villages.
This was stated by Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong today based on comments from the responsible Union minister, Raj Giriraj Singh, during a video conference performance review.
According to the Deputy CM, who is also the Public Works Department (Roads) Minister, Meghalaya has completed around 1,000km of roads under the scheme’s phases 1 and 2 targets of 1,300km.
The state is now approaching Phase 3 wherein another 1,250km of upgrades to existing roads will be carried out.
