The 5th Megha Kayak Festival 2022 began at Umtham village, Ri-Bhoi, on Thursday.
Over 80 kayakers from Meghalaya, the rest of India and abroad will take part in the four-day event on the Umtrew River.
There are two central events – downriver time-trial where competitors kayak down a 350m-long challenging white water section and the extreme slalom race in which four competitors race head-to-head in an elimination race format.
