The three-day long All India Poetess Conference Mega Convention which commenced on May 26 at Tura, West Garo Hills concluded on May 28 with nearly 200 delegates comprising poets and writers from all over India attending.
North Tura MLA Thomas A. Sangma graced the function as chief guest while retired MCS officer Crisline T. Sangma was the special guest. Both of them spoke on the dire need to preserve our Mother Tongue.
The programme was organised by All India Poetess Conference in collaboration with Garo Department, NEHU Tura campus, A’chik Literature Society and Sahitya Akademi Delhi.
Representatives from various states showcased their traditional songs and dances in the cultural programme. The AIPC souvenir and books were also released on the first day.
Meanwhile, AIPC representatives from Meghalaya continued to hold the top positions in the AIPC national level for five consecutive years.
Prof. Streamlet Dkhar was re-elected as chairperson and president of AIPC while Minimon Laloo retained the post of vice-president.
