The Centre of Medical and Sales Representatives’ Union (North East Region), CRU(NER), is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
CRU(NER) was established in 1973 to fight against the “atrocious policies of different pharmaceutical and consumer companies”. It operates across 16 districts in five North East states. It “is the only organisation in the entire North East committed to providing security to these employees against the motivated private working rules and regulations,” a press release today said.
CRU Shillong intends to commemorate the golden jubilee year with various seminars, workshops, games and other programmes. Today, it began with an inaugural programme that featured a carrom championship.
Dr PS Choudhury graced the programme as chief guest. Other dignitaries included CA Sudip Purkayastha and Ganapada Ghosh of Geetali Club, Laba, which hosted the event.
Forty CRU(NER) members took part in the carrom championship, which was won by Santanu Bhattacharjee in the men’s division and Sudipta Dey in the women’s.
