The Federation of Medical and Sales Representatives Association of India (FMRAI) and North East unit of the Centre of Medical and Sales Representatives Union (CRU) participated in a one day country-wide strike, which was also observed here.
The strike was called over the eight-point charter of demands, five of which relate to the central government and three to employers.
The demands of the Centre include the framing of statutory working rules for sales promotion employees as under the Sales Promotion Employees (Conditions of Services) Act 1976.
The reps also want the removal of all restrictions on the entry of medial representatives in government hospitals and instructions and ensure their right to work.
They also want the government to reduce the prices of medicines and medal devices and remove GST for medicines as well as protect data privacy.
The demands of the employers include to “stop sales-related harassment and victimisation”, not to intrude on their privacy through “tracing and surveillance” and to ensure unhindered entry to workplaces.
