The State government has appointed Lyngkyrdem-Laitkroh MDC, Ryngkatlang Lyndem as the co-chairman of State Development Reforms Commission (SDRC).
Lyndem who belongs to the UDP is entitled to perks and facilities under Category A.
SDRC comprises of Sohiong MLA Samlin Malngiang as chairman, four former MLAs – K Phlastingwell Pangniang, Ngaitlang Dhar, Sengman R. Marak and Phillipole D. Marak as co-chairmen, and Maiantis Mawlot as vice-chairman.
It may be mentioned that the MDA government has made a large number of political appointments in various boards, corporations and commissions to accommodate ex-MLAs and ex-MDCs and leaders of political parties supporting the government.
Huge expenditures have been incurred on perks and facilities of such political appointees amounting to several crores of rupees since 2018.
