The Block Committee of the Trinamool Congress, Pynursla today said that the NPP-led MDA government has adopted an “imperialistic tactic” on the issue of making Hindi subject compulsory in the Northeast.
“If institutions and schools in southern states of India even in West Bengal and the Northeast can oppose to this saffronization of education by way of imposing a language not conversant with the local population especially with students how come the NPP here in Meghalaya wants to impose such a dictum?” block president Jiten Khongwieng questioned.
He said the State government has made a statement without taking or doing a proper survey of its acceptance. “If the Deputy CM who is an MLA of the constituency cannot speak and pressurize the BJP to recognize Khasi and Garo in the Eight Schedule in the Constitution of India to which his party is an ally of NEDA alliance, it shows that the NPP and its allies are just mere puppets and rubber stamp coalition,” he added.
He castigated the State government that society cannot afford to have its educational right trampled by rubber stamp representatives.
Khongwieng further said that the block committee will soon organize and mobilise the public to oppose the methodology of the NPP led-government.
