The East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police has informed that Shillong Traffic Police (STP) intends to convert the existing one-way traffic at Mawlai By-pass into a two-way road for vehicular traffic on a trial basis from tomorrow.
Following the trial run, the road shall be notified for two-way plying of vehicular traffic, he said.
Vehicles coming from Ri-Bhoi/Umiam intending to proceed towards Mawlai Umshing, Golf link, Pynthorumkhrah, and other adjoining destinations can take the Mawlai By-pass and vice versa.
He said is done to ease the vehicular traffic congestion at the Mawiong – Mawlai, Nongkwar road.
