Days after he resigned as the President of the Mawkynrew Block Congress, Olet Kharsahnoh and his supporters dumped the Grand Old Party in favour of the People’s Democratic Front (PDF) upstarts at a function in Jongksha today.
When he resigned on Saturday Kharsahnoh said it was time to give someone else a go at being in charge of the block Congress. He was coy on the suggestion that he would defect to the PDF.
Cabinet minister and local MLA Banteidor Lyngdoh was present today to welcome Kharsahnoh into the PDF fold.
Speaking at the function, Kharsahnoh said the decision to join the PDF was agreed at by his supporters who were with him during the 2018 elections when he ran unsuccessfully on a Congress ticket.
“The supporters said that there is no future with the Congress,” he added.
Lyngdoh, meanwhile, said, “Cooperation and unity are the key to bring development to the constituency, which has been left orphaned for so many years.”
