After a frenetic search online and off it, the East and West Garo Hills’ wildlife officials now believe that a man suspected of killing and eating a protected monitor lizard is in the Goalpara district of Assam.
Last week, the suspect, one Chima Sangma, had posted photos on social media after catching the lizard and then proudly proclaimed that he had consumed the animal, which is protected by law.
