Shillong, Aug 25: The Court of R. Rymbai, Special Judge (POCSO), East Khasi Hills convicted one Lovingstar Binan to life imprisonment for sexually assaulting a minor girl in 2021.
In an order on August 22, the court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000. He was sentenced under Section of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act with an additional six months rigorous imprison in default of payment of the fine.
The court also sentenced Binan under Section 376 AB IPC, with no separate sentence, life imprisonment under Section 377 IPC with Rs. 10,000 fine. In default the convict with have to undergo an additional six months rigorous imprisonment.
Under Section 506 IPC, the court said Binan will suffer imprisonment of five years and to pay a fine of Rs. 5000 and in default of fine to undergo an additional three months imprisonment.
Furthermore, the convict was also sentenced under Section 323 IPC to six years imprisonment with Rs 1000 fine and an additional two months in default to pay the fine.
The case was registered at Pynursla Police Station and investigated by Shidarisha Kharsati, presently posted in Lumdiengjri Police Station.
