Shillong, Jan 6: A city court has convicted an individual to 25 years of imprisonment for his involvement in a POCSO case nearly six years ago.
The incident occurred on June 18, 2020 and police filed a chargesheet against the accused on July 23, 2020.
The verdict was passed on December 17, 2025, by the court of MK Lyngoh, Special Judge (POCSO), East Khasi Hills, Shillong.
East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police, Vivek Syiem in a press statement on Tuesday informed that the accused, Rocky Mawlong (42), was kept under judicial custody for three years and five months during the trial.
According to the verdict the accused shall serve the remaining sentence of 21 years and seven months in jail, for committing aggravated penetrative sexual assault to a minor girl.
The East Khasi Hills district, Superintendent of Police, the accused had sexually assaulted a seven-year-old girl in a forest.
