Shillong, Feb 4: The Court of the Sessions Judge, Jowai has found one Stam Surong of Mukhla Nongrim village, accused in the murder of his wife, Before Sari, guilty of the crime.
District and Sessions Judge Noor Ain Kha Judge sentenced Surong to life imprisonment under Section 302 IPC along with a fine of Rs 5000.
Police said Surong burnt his wife using kerosene oil inside their residence on September 8, 2006. Before succumbing to her injuries, she had revealed the details of the incident to her family members.
A FIR was filed by Barwill Singh Sari at Ummulong Beat House and a case was registered at Jowai Police Station. It was investigated and chargesheeted by SI A. Rymbai.
