One Shwamiki Law was sentenced to life imprisonment for the gruesome murder of his wife, Daphibanker Phawa by the court of NA Khan, District and Sessions Judge, Jowai.
It was on October 11, 2018 when Law’s father registered an FIR at Jowai police station.
In the complaint, the father stated that Law, who resided on the first floor of their house with his wife and three children, entered his bedroom with a neck injury. Unable to speak, Law gestured that something had gone wrong in his residence. This was at around 11:50pm.
Upon rushing to the accused’s house, Law’s father discovered that his daughter-in-law had been brutally murdered, with her throat slit by an unknown assailant.
The case was registered at Jowai police station and investigated and charge-sheeted by WPSI I Kharpran. The court found Law guilty of the murder and sentenced him to life in prison and a fine of Rs 5,000. The court also recommended compensation of Rs 6 lakh for the three children of the victim.
