Nongstoiñ, Oct 10: A person was buried alive by his own nephew at Nongdisong village in West Khasi Hills accusing him of practicing witchcraft.
Police said the victim Moris Marngar, was forcibly taken from his home at Mawliehbah Manner to Nongdisong on October 6 by his nephew and was wrongfully confined at the house of his niece Sildaris Marngar.
Accusing him of casting an evil spell on Sildaris, whom they claimed that she has been suffering for three months, the nephews buried him alive the next day at around 7 pm, police said.
The arrested persons have been identified as Denial Marngar (40) Jayless Marngar (27 and Diferwell Marngar (30).
A FIR was also lodged by the Sordar of Mawliehbah Mannar Klanding Sohlangpiaw and police are on the lookout for other co-accused in the case.
Meanwhile, all legal formalities like exhumation of the death body, inquest and post mortem report is being observed, police added.
