The people of Malangkona area got a dedicated ambulance to serve the community today, launched by Mawshynrut MLA-MDC, Gigur Myrthong.
Malangkona, in West Khasi Hills, is in the border area between Meghalaya and Assam and has been abandoned by various legislators in the past. Mojin Marak, president of the Malangkona Area Development Organisation (MADO), said that the ambulance is the first of its kind and he promised that it will serve the people of the area.
Myrthong said that it is the right time to launch the ambulance in the area given the ravages of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Later, Myrthong launched an ambulance in Shallang where he handed over the ambulance to the doctor in charge of Shallang Primary Health Centre, Dr AM Sangma.
Myrthong told the media that the constituency is in poor condition in terms of health infrastructure but that he will do what he can one step at a time. He has previously donated ambulances to Riangdo Community Health Centre and to one NGO.
