Members of the Lyngdoh clan have strenuously opposed plans to install a Jio mobile phone tower on a sacred burial ground in a Ri-Bhoi village.
This was brought to light by Emanuel Lyngdoh, who discovered that the chief of Raid Nongtham has given a no-objection certificate (NOC) for the installation of the tower without first checking with the Lyngdoh clan.
The land in question, at Pamlaban village, has been used to bury the cremated remains of clan members.
