The Dorbar Shnong of Pyllun, ICAR Umiam, conducted a cleaning drive on Saturday of the flyover at Umiam in order to create mass awareness among tourists and residents alike on the need to maintain cleanliness.
Led by headman M Warbah and accompanied by village leaders, women’s and youth groups, the cleaning drive was organised because the nearby Umiam Lake has been gravely affected by dumping of waste.
On the flyover, rampant littering of liquor and water bottles as well as other waste products were of major concern to the villagers.
