A assistant lecturer in physics at Sacred Heart Boys’ School at Mawlai, Risakmen Romor Jones Dkhar, has come out with a simplified book on the subject entitled ‘Physics: The Magic Book’ for Class 12 students.
Dkhar began writing the book during the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic and has worked day and night on it. According to the author, the subject has been explained in such a way that even average students can use it to get on par with others.
“The main objective for me to pen down this book is to aid poor families who cannot afford tuition, including expensive smartphones for their children,” he said at a press conference.
Dkhar encouraged other local people and teachers to come out with such versions for other science subjects to encourage the youth and increase the number of scientists in Meghalaya.
The book is not cheap, at Rs 1,050, but Dkhar said that self-study is vital before students go for coaching classes. The book, which was launched yesterday, has been written according to the 2022-23 syllabus, he added.
“I have only printed 250 copies to start with but if there is a demand we will increase and print more books at a reduced rate,” he said.
Dkhar was also felicitated by the Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO) today.
