Local candidates should be given preference in appointments to jobs in government offices in North Garo Hills, Rongrong MDC Rinaldo K Sangma said today.
In the letter to the Deputy Commissioner, Sangma stated that he has received innumerable complaints on the matter pertaining to appointments in departments and offices of North Garo Hills.
“It has come to my knowledge that, of late, selection of candidates for contractual appointments in certain departments is being made from outside the district though there have been local qualified applicants for the said posts,” the opposition Trinamool Congress MDC said.
According to him, in all other districts of Meghalaya, be it contractual or regular (appointments), preference is always given to qualified applicants who are permanent residents of the district.
“Hence, in the interest and justice of the hundreds of deserving job applicants of North Garo Hills, I benevolently request you to accord preference to deserving qualified local candidates in all appointments,” Sangma said.
