Shillong, Oct 1: Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today attended the closing ceremony of the Golden Jubilee celebration of Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Mawbri.
The programme marked 50 years of the institution’s service to education under the motto “Darkness to Light.”
In his address, the Chief Minister congratulated the school on completing five decades of dedicated service and appreciated the contributions of the management, teachers, alumni, and the Catholic Church in shaping generations of students.
He highlighted the government’s investments in school infrastructure, grants to private schools, and efforts to strengthen support for teachers. The Chief Minister also announced an initial contribution of Rs 25 lakhs from the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund for the school’s new building project.
Umroi MLA Damanbait Lamare commended the school for its contribution to the educational and cultural development of Ri Bhoi district and encouraged students and teachers to continue striving for excellence.
A significant moment of the ceremony was the reading of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), in which the school outlined its plan to expand infrastructure, introduce Science, Commerce, and Arts streams, and provide co-curricular and recreational courses.
The agreement sought the Chief Minister’s support for financial assistance to realise the new building project.
The programme also featured cultural performances, speeches by past pupils, the felicitation of retired teachers and meritorious students, the release of the school’s souvenir, and the launch of a book authored by Dr. Mistilia Dkhar.
The celebration concluded with the lowering of the Jubilee Flag, the school anthem and the inauguration of newly decorated classrooms.
The closing ceremony was attended by students, alumni, faculty, parents, and community members who joined in celebrating the 50-year journey of Little Flower Higher Secondary School, Mawbri.
