A life convict, Shiningstar Pala of Wahiajer, who was lodged in Jowai district jail, escaped from the premises today.
According to police sources, Shiningstar flee from the premises at around 2:30 afternoon when he was taken out for washing an ambulance of the prison by its driver.
The prisoner was convicted in the abduction and murder of his 9-year old brother-in-law from Umjalasiaw village.
Shiningstar along with his accomplice, Pynchemi Phawa had abducted the child on June 26, 2018. The body of the minor was recovered from Laher village in West Karbi Anglong, Assam on June 28, 2018.
