The Institute of Bio-resources and Sustainable Development (DBT-IBSD), Shillong, under the initiative of the Director, IBSD, Prof. Pulok K. Mukherjee, planned programme to strengthening and creating additional livelihood to the local farmers of Byrnihat in Ri-Bhoi District, an Aspirational District of Meghalaya through utilisation of local bio-resources.
To achieve this, Lemongrass saplings were distributed to the local progressive farmers with the aims to effectively transform these districts after the pandemic.
The distribution of Lemongrass saplings was carried out yesterday at Rural Bioresorurce Complex (RBC) Byrnihat in presence of Dr. Samar Roychowdhury, Controller of Administration and Finance, IBSD and O Bishan Singh, Senior Account Officer, IBSD, along with the scientific and technical support staff of IBSD, Meghalaya.
The DBT-IBSD centres in different parts of North East India are actively participating and serving the society during the Covid-19 scenario under the leadership of the Director, IBSD, Prof. Pulok K. Mukherjee.
The Institute will continue its activity to strengthen the local farmers to emerge from the losses.
