A legal awareness programme was organised by the East Garo Hills District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) at Daribokgre village in the Nokrek Biosphere Reserve yesterday where villagers including the religious leaders, Nokmas and Sardars of the nearby villages like Dura Kalakgre, Sasatgre and Mandal Nokatgre participated.
The Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) and the Secretary of the DLSA, Chisak G Momin, spoke at length on the importance of Legal Services Act, 1987 and urged the under-privileged people to avail the free legal services being provided by the DLSA.
The Protection Officer of the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Mamuni K Marak, highlighted the activities of the DCPU and the provisions of POCSO Act, 2012.
