The Meghalaya State Chapter of the Indian Medical Association (IMA) has nominated seven doctors, including the late Dr John Sailo Ryntathiang, for the IMA Doctors’ Day Awards for their work during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr Sailo Ryntathiang was Meghalaya’s first official casualty of the pandemic, having passed away in April last year. He was the founder of Bethany Hospital.
The other medical professionals nominated from the state are Dr Christina Lyngdoh of Nazareth Hospital (nominated for vaccination work), Dr KG Lynrah of NEIGRIHMS (Covid care and critical management), Dr Valerie Lyngdoh of NEIGRIHMS (laboratory support for Covid testing), government official Dr S Nongbri (Covid care), government official Dr Andreas Dkhar (Covid care) and Dr Ivonne M Sangma of National Health Mission (primary and Covid care).
The final awardees will be decided tomorrow by the central national committee of the IMA.
The list of Meghalaya doctors was duly vetted by Dr C Daniala, President, and Dr Bhaskar Borgohain, Honorary Secretary, of the IMA Meghalaya State Chapter.
