A large rally was carried out today to push for a separate community and rural development block in and around Dainadubi in North Garo Hills.
Those behind the demand want areas carved out of Kharkutta and Resubelpara blocks for their proposed one centred on Dainadubi, which would take in 103 villages, 6,500 households and 47,500 people.
Such a move would accelerate the overall development of the area as the town is strategically located.
