To preserve a catchment area at Umshing Umjapung an exchange of land was confirmed today between 14 households and the Syiem of Hima Mylliem.
A foundation stone was also laid by the CEM KHADC Titosstar well Chyne in the presence of the MDC Mawlai Constituency Teiborlang Pathaw, Acting Chief Hima Mylliem Ainam Manik Syiem, the Rangbah Shnong, Umshing Umjapung CS Khongsar, besides others.
The 14 households got land in the forest of the Hima Mylliem falling under Umshing Umjapung village while the catchment area is now preserved under the Hima Mylliem.
Chyne assured that the KHADC will also earmark an amount that will be used to construct a road that will connect the village to the catchment area that already has a washing shed to further ease the living condition of people in that area.
Ainam Manik Syiem said that the Hima Mylliem accepted the proposal of the Dorbar Shnong Umshing-Umjapung for the exchange of lands so that the catchment area which is a major source of water supply is protected.
