Chief Minister, Conrad K Sangma inaugurated the Laitjem Sub Centre today with an assurance that in the 50th year of Statehood the State government will ensure that health facilities especially at the grass root levels are functional.
The Laitjem Sub Centre was sanctioned at a cost of Rs 25.92 lakhs during 2012-2013 under the National Health Mission. The work was completed on July 28, 2014.
According to a press statement from the Chief Minister’s Officer, the sub centre will soon be upgraded to a health and wellness centre to provide comprehensive primary health services to the community.
Addressing the gathering, the chief minister spoke how the government too health services as a top priority. He said the sub centre will cater to the needs of six surrounding villages and expressed his gratitude to the village committee for donating land for its construction.
He also thanked the frontline workers, the community leaders the health officials for their tireless efforts to tide over the Covid crisis and said the battled against the virus is not over and urged people to exercise caution.
Mawphlang MLA, Eugene Lyngdoh and KHADC Chairman Lamphrang Blah were also present on the occasion.
