The Nongtrai limestone mine of Lafarge Umiam Mining Private Limited (LUMPL) celebrated ‘Iconic Week’ as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav under the aegis of Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), Guwahati Region.
The week-long event started from March 7 and ran until March 14, as per the charter issued by the DGMS office.
The event saw the active participation of the entire staff and workmen of LUMPL in various programmes, like the inauguration of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav, awareness of occupational disease silicosis, workshop on industrial and mining safety, first aid training camp, workshop on the role of mining industries in development of the North East, painting and essay writing competition, etc.
These were followed by the felicitation and prize distribution ceremony for participants. In-house faculty, including the company’s doctor, imparted training and practical demonstrations.
