Lafarge Umiam Mining private limited (LUMPL) was adjudicated as ‘Overall First’ by the Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS) for being the safest opencast mines in the Northeast.
The award was handed over to LUMPL during the recently concluded 18th North East Metalliferous Mines Safety Week held in Guwahati on September 19 under the aegis of DGMS, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India.
Altogether 13 mines from the Northeast participated in the mines safety week.
