The Meghalaya People’s Labour Union (MPLU) has apprised the KHADC chief Pyniaid Sing Syiem that there are many non-tribal businessmen and labourers operating and working under the council’s jurisdiction without following the rules regarding trading and labour licences.
The MPLU met Syiem today and said that it has found that factories in Byrnihat, 13 Mile and Raid Marwet do not have valid documents and neither do those labourers in the coke factories of Shallang.
The union alleged that similar illegalities are taking place in Borsora, Cherragaon and Bagli in West Khasi Hills as well as Ichamati, Kalibari and Majai in East Khasi Hills.
