The Khasi Students Union, Sohra circle has issued a seven-point directive to school and college students and warned them of strict action, if not followed.
Leaflets printed with the directives and warning were yesterday distributed in the area led by circle president Mesadapbor Skhembil and education secretary Kyntiew Nongrum in all schools, colleges and training centres.
Directing students not to wear “indecent” clothes as the first point, the KSU warned them not to smoke, chew tobacco or indulge in alcohol or drugs.
Students were also warned against wandering around in between or after school/college hours, speak offensive words, sit in corners of any street to play with their mobile phones with their uniforms on.
Further students are also directed to wear their identity cards everyday to school and not to get involved or cause a ruckus in Sohra.
A press release issued by the circle publicity secretary, Carmel Fedrick Malngiang said that the union has authorised all its units to ensure that students follow the directives.
He also said that the KSU will award discipline schools and meritorious students.
