The Khasi Students Union, Mawkynrew circle undertook repair of a footbridge over the Umlew river in Jongksha that was causing inconvenience to people in those areas.
The repair works was undertaken yesterday by the KSU Jongksha Unit and Mawlali unit.
The footbridge connects Jongkhsa to Mawlali, Mawber and Thynroit.
A press release from the KSU today said that the pedestrian bridge was posing a risk to people especially students from Mawlali, Thynroit, Mawber, Mawpyrshong, Madan Langning, and Thadan villages who have to cross the river, especially during the monsoons when the water current is high.
