To vent their ire on the Centre as well as the State government’s attitude to their demand for implementation of Inner Line Permit in Meghalaya, pressure groups are on an extensive graffiti spree.
The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), the most vocal pressure group on the demand, has plastered the walls in the city and also in other parts of the State with pro-ILP graffiti.
The pro-ILP slogans were seen scribbled in major educational institutions like the North Eastern Hill University and other state and central government offices.
Authorities wherever they could were seen cleaning these slogans.
Slogans like “No ILP No Rest”, “We want ILP”, “No CAA, Yes ILP” and slogans written in the Khasi language were seen splattered in walls across the city.
It may be mentioned that on July 24, the pro-ILP groups had met Union Home Minister, Amit Shah to try and convince him for the need to implement the permit system in Meghalaya.
The pressure groups alleged that the Union Home Minister maintained silence on the ILP demand.
Meanwhile, a fresh graffiti was seen on the wall of Assam House at Dhankheti on Saturday denouncing the intrusion of Assam police into Ïongkhuli village, Ri-Bhoi.
