The Khasi Students Union (KSU) today distributed pamphlet across the Khasi-Jaiñtia Hills region detailing incidents of alleged atrocities against the tribals since 1979.
KSU general secretary, Donald V Thabah said the programme was held to observe the second death anniversary of its members, Lurshai Hynniewta who was allegedly lynched by non-tribals in Ichamati during the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protest held in 2020.
Thabah said, “Through these pamphlets we want the people to know the truth that the community was subjected to atrocities since 1979, but not as those claimed on social media and newspapers,” he stated, adding, “The incidents referred in these pamphlets are verified through documents.”
