The Khasi Students’ Union (KSU), Narpuh circle has expressed concern over the dilapidated condition of the Umkiang primary health centre and urged the government to immediately renovate it.
Circle president K.S. Suchiang said that the PHC which is located along the national highway and the closest health centre for border residents needs urgent attention as it serves thousands of people on a daily basis.
He said the roof of the PHC is in shambles which has inconvenienced the patients, doctors and nurses. “During the monsoons the staffs have to make use of buckets to collect rain water seeping through the roof,” he added.
