The Ri-Bhoi unit of the Khasi Students Union (KSU) has reiterated its opposition and demanded the cancellation of the new billing system to be introduced by the Meghalaya Energy Corporation Ltd (MeECL) tied to the controversial smart meters being introduced to the state.
The issue came up again after the pressure group submitted a memorandum to this effect to the Deputy Commissioner of Ri-Bhoi, which insisted that the authorities put a stop to the plan to introduce the smart billing system to the district.
