PM Shri Kendriya Vidyalaya, Umroi hosted the ‘Know Your Indian Army’ outreach programme under the banner of the Indian Army’s PGME to School campaign.
The event was led by Major Rajinder from 20 Kumaon Regiment, accompanied by two JCOs and 10 soldiers, who interacted enthusiastically with the students and staff of the Vidyalaya.
The programme commenced with an inspiring session involving 60 students from Classes XI and XII and NCC Cadets, who had the unique opportunity to interact closely with the army personnel. This interaction laid the foundation for a deep sense of respect, curiosity, and national pride among the students.
Details were also shared on how to join the Indian Army both as an Agniveer and as an officer, covering entry schemes, eligibility, and selection processes.
One of the highlights of the event was the live demonstration of a drone used by the Indian Army. The team showcased its advanced features and tactical applications in surveillance and reconnaissance, capturing the students’ attention and sparking immense interest in defence technology.
The soldiers presented a range of tools, kits, and equipment used in military operations. Students interacted one-on-one with the soldiers, asking insightful questions about training, discipline, and Army life. The soldiers answered patiently, inspiring many to dream of serving the nation.
