Kiang Nangbah Government College in Jowai hosted a national webinar yesterday in collaboration with the Association of Mutual Funds of India (AMFI).
The webinar was inaugurated by H Toi, the Head of the Department of Commerce at the college.
Surya Kant Sharma, senior consultant of AMFI was the keynote speaker and dwelt on the need for adequate life insurance, medical insurance and emergency funds before embarking on the journey of wealth creation through investments.
Sharma spoke at length on the importance of regular savings, investments that provide returns above inflation, the management of risk, etc. He also dwelt on the different types of investment and saving options, ranging from gold, pension schemes, bonds, shares, real estate, etc.
He also cautioned against investing hard earned money in Ponzi schemes and chit funds, which are fraudulent by nature.
A question-answer session was made open for the participants and several questions on personal finance were discussed together with the experts from AMFI.
